Overview

What is the Confirmation Concept?
Confirmation associates a Referee with an Assignment and invites him or her to respond positively or negatively to the Assignment*
Why use the Concept?
Confirmation allows a Chapter* with more Referees than Assignments to methodically distribute Assignments from one central location
How is the concept implemented?
The Assignor* determines which Referee* will be given each Assignment* and updates the Assignment, setting the Position's Status value to UnconfirmedUnconfirmed. The Referee then uses the Referee: Inquiry function to ConfirmConfirm or Rejectreject the Assignment. The Assignor then selects the rejected Assignments (a "negative" response) and reassigns them to other Referees.

Comments

Confirmation works effectively when the Chapter employs an abundance of Referees, when the Chapter desires absolute control over Referee assignments, or when a Chapter is first using a Referee Management Site* and has high "concerns" with SelfAssign.

Confirmation requires a precise process:

  1. An Assignor must assign a Referee to each Assignment (usually using Assignor: Assignment)
  2. Each Referee must logon to the Site and accept or reject the Assignment (typically via Referee: Inquiry)
  3. The Assignor must re-assign all of the rejected Assignments

In order for this process to work correctly, the Chapter must allow sufficient time for each of the "steps". This usually implies calendar based "confirmation periods" where the Assignor waits for the Referees to respond to the posted assignments before beginning the next cycle of Assignments. Thus, Confirmation works best when the Chapter posts the Match Schedules well in advance and schedules a generous time period (usually weeks) for each step.

If you do NOT have several days and/or weeks to go through the Confirmation sequence multiple times, RidgeStar recommends you accomplish Assignment fulfillment using a method like SelfAssign.
