Overview

What is the Logon Concept?
Logon identifies the mechanism each Visitor* to your Site* must use to successfully identify themselves to the Site
Why use the Concept?
Logon ensures that a specific User* at a specific Browser is, indeed, who they say they are. (It verifies and validates that the individual using the Browser is acting as the individual defined as being eligible for participation with the Chapter*)
How is the concept implemented?
Logon requires each User to provide identifying information called a SiteName* AND a secret password associated with the SiteName. Usually, the SiteName is also the individual's "name", but it can also be an assigned or selected Userid

Comments

Logon is active on EVERY Referee Management Site*. This allows all of the actions within the Site to be attributed to the proper individuals. Only functions that require authorization (e.g. SelfAssign, etc.) require that the Visitor logon to the Site. Other, non-sensitive information can remain "public".

Each User must set his or her own password. We strongly recommend the following guidelines:

  1. Use a mix of letters and numbers
  2. It should be at least six characters
  3. It should NOT contain the User's name, address, etc.
  4. Is should NOT be a "real" word (i.e. one that appears in a dictionary)
  5. Do NOT write down or save the password as a Favorite Link, etc.
  6. Do NOT activate or utilize the password memory logic within your local Browser
